Have you ever found yourself dwelling on a past hurt, replaying a conversation, or feeling bitter toward someone? If so, you’re not alone. Offense is one of the enemy’s most effective traps. It sneaks in quietly, builds resentment, and before we know it, it becomes a roadblock to our spiritual growth.
In last week’s message, The Bait of Satan – Part 4, we explored how holding onto offense can keep us stuck and how God calls us to release it. Let’s break it down.
Why Offense is Dangerous
1️⃣ Offense Blocks Your Blessings
Carrying offense weighs down your heart. It clouds your vision and keeps you from receiving what God has for you.
2️⃣ It Keeps You Stuck in the Past
When we replay past hurts, we give them power over our present and future. Instead of moving forward, we stay trapped in the pain.
3️⃣ Offense is a Spiritual Trap
Jesus warned us that offenses will come (Luke 17:1), but the danger lies in taking the bait. The enemy knows that if he can get you offended, he can distract you from your purpose.
3 Steps to Overcoming Offense
✔️ Recognize the Trap
The enemy wants to keep you bitter, but awareness is the first step to breaking free.
✔️ Release it to God
Forgiveness doesn’t mean approval; it means choosing freedom. When you let go, you make room for God to work in your life.
✔️ Refocus on Your Purpose
God has more for you than resentment. Redirect your energy toward growth, healing, and fulfilling His calling on your life.
Final Thought 💭
Let It Go & Move Forward
You weren’t meant to carry the weight of offense. This week, ask yourself: What offense have I been holding onto that I need to release? Pray, surrender it to God, and take the first step toward freedom.
