How to Keep Going When Life Gets Hard

A calm woman sits cross-legged with eyes closed, praying in the midst of chaos—lightning flashes and fire surround her, yet she remains peaceful and centered.

Trouble in this life isn’t a matter of if—it’s a matter of when. But Jesus never promised a storm-free life. Instead, He left us with something far more powerful: His peace.

It’s not the kind of peace the world gives—momentary calm, conditional on circumstances. His peace is something deeper. It’s a settledness that holds you steady when everything else is shaking. It’s what allows you to sleep in the back of the boat while the storm rages outside.

But here’s the catch: that kind of peace doesn’t just happen. It has to be guarded.

Settle It in Your Heart

Luke 21:14 says, “Settle it therefore in your hearts…” In other words, decide ahead of time that your faith won’t fold under pressure. If your heart isn’t anchored, fear will find a way in. If your soul is leaky—if your heart isn’t sealed—then even the peace Jesus gave can feel like it’s slipping away.

This is why Scripture tells us to guard our hearts above all else. Not just from sin, but from fear, agitation, and the subtle pull of double-mindedness. A heart that’s unsettled becomes vulnerable to the lies of the enemy.

Learn the Language of Victory

The Kingdom of God is voice-activated. What you say matters—especially in hard times. Many people don’t lose because of what happened to them; they lose because of what they started saying about what happened to them.

Words are seeds. Speak enough doubt, defeat, or fear—and you’ll eat the fruit of it. But if you discipline your mouth to align with truth, it reinforces peace in your life. When your heart is full of God’s Word, your mouth will speak differently.

Even in chaos, you can say, “He is my refuge. He is my fortress. In Him will I trust.”

Stay Hidden, Stay Heard

Psalm 91 reminds us that those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High abide under His shadow. It’s not a hiding place of fear—it’s a place of refuge and trust. But you don’t just dwell quietly. You declare boldly. You say of the Lord: “He is my God.”

Peace and power come when you know how to hide in Him and speak from that place.

You Have a Choice

Every day presents two paths: one leads to life, the other to loss. And the choice is always yours. God told His people, “I’ve set before you life and death—choose life.”

So when hard places come—and they will—you don’t have to collapse. You can stand. You can speak. You can remain unmoved.

Because you have a peace that’s not of this world. And if you guard it, it will guard you.

You don’t have to live with what’s missing.

You’ve been running hard… but something’s still missing. On paper, life looks fine — maybe even great. But under the surface, there’s a quiet emptiness. You’re functioning… but not flourishing. Sleeping… but not resting. Busy… but not at peace.

This fall, we’re going after the missing pieces in life — one by one. The habits, mindsets, and rhythms that most people ignore, but that make all the difference between chaos and calm.

It’s not self-help. It’s not hype. It’s ancient wisdom, made simple for modern life. If you’re tired of being tired, if you’re longing for more calm and less chaos, if you’ve ever thought “something’s off” but couldn’t name it — this is for you.

❤️ You don’t have to fix your life first. Just come with an open heart.
